Girls Week Day Camp

Here’s what a camper told us:

“Supportive relationships are the most important thing about Girls Week.”

Why we think you’ll like Girls Week:

  • A large staff of teens and adult women focus on helping each girl feel welcome and appreciated.
  • We create a community where each girl feels socially safe.
  • We respect all the different ways girls are diverse and unique.

  • We have an amazing amount of fun and laughter.

How Our Program Benefits Girls:

We support girls by encouraging them to strengthen their voices and visions in an accepting community. This is a unique opportunity for young girls to meet teens leaders and a staff of women who are inspiring role models encouraging each girl to value herself and develop her own unique gifts.

We have fun together in a relaxed welcoming atmosphere with lots of choices such as songs, crafts, storytelling, art, and theater. Many say that their favorite time is when we hike up into the woods and create a village of our own.

We also have great open discussions about our concerns that help us find out how much we have in common. On our Women’s Heritage Table we share scrapbooks, favorite books, our own art and poetry, and other things that represent what builds courage for us. On the last day, the teen leaders put on a surprise humorous dramatic presentation that involves every camper.

Parent Recommendations

There is nothing like Girls Week. My daughter has come back year after year and is now on staff. This is a place where girls can use their energy so constructively and really be affirmed.” – Marsha Lieberman

Thanks for creating a place that specifically respects all body sizes and types. You give rare support that is available few other places. You taught my daughter skills she’ll use the rest of her life in handling friendship issues.” – Northampton mother

Responding to questions you might have:

“But my daughter doesn’t know anyone else who is coming--”

We plan ways to create welcome. When she arrives, teen leaders will give her a short tour so she feels at home. Within the first hour, she’ll be in a small group concentrating on building new friendships. By lunch time, she’ll be sitting, laughing and talking with girls she hasn’t met before.

“What if it’s doesn’t work that easily?”

Tell us. We’ll work with her in informal, non-embarrassing, and caring ways to support her throughout the day as she grows in comfort.

“Hard things have happened socially for my daughter at school.”

Sarah has talked with many families about similar situations and is very sympathetic and interested. She will be glad to talk with you on the phone, brainstorm with you, and help it be different at camp.
